Samsung is the latest manufacturer to jump on to the Android Go bandwagon. Back in April,Samsung’s first device was spotted on GeekBench with the model number SM-J260G. Now, it seems like we may finally have some more details about the upcoming device.
As per recent reports, theSamsung J260 will feature a 1GB RAM, Android 8.1 Oreo, and a quad-core Exynos 7570 processor. The 5-inch device is said to be running the Android Go variant of Android Oreo 8.1 and will come with16GB of storage on board.
In the camera department, the Samsung J260 is said to feature an8MP shooter on the backwith a5MP shooter on the frontfor selfies. Powering this setup would be a2,600mAh battery, which should, on paper, provide enough juice for the device to last a full day. Also, the upcoming Samsung Android Go-powered smartphone isbeing tested under the different model names – SM-J260F, SM-J260M, and SM-J260Gin several parts of the globe.
Samsung, which once reigned as the supreme king in the budget market as well, with the original Galaxy series, has lost its throne to the likes of Xiaomi, Motorola and Huawei. While the company had introduced a couple of new smartphones in the mid-range segment with competitive pricing and features, they failed to replicate the same success that its rivals have experienced. As such, adding an Android Go device under their listings might be an interesting move, and could help them regain some trust in the budget section as well.
As of now, there is no official word when the device will be made available for the markets.
