The Spangram for today’s NYT Strands puzzle is —SUBGENRE.

If you have scrolled this far, you are probably ready to see the answers. So, let’s take a look at today’s Strands theme words in Strands:

Today’s game will have you searching for words for a while as you need to find 8 answers. I started with the words COOL and FUNK at the bottom right. Then, after looking at these letters for a while, I found the words ACID on the right and FUSION at the top left.

By now, it was clear to me that we were looking for jazz music styles, but I didn’t know them all by name. So, I used a hint at this point and it highlighted the word BEBOP for me. Another hard stare at the grid for another 2-3 minutes revealed to me the words SWING and MODAL at the top.

Then, I found the Spangram for today, which is SUBGENRES, running from the left to the right. At last, I connected the remaining letters to make RAGTIME and complete the puzzle.
