After yesterday’s unique Strands, I was kind of hoping to see something equally fun. While the Strands today did send me out to chase a fantasy tale, it wasn’t a golden goose of challenge. But, if you are finding it to be confusing a bit, the May 20 NYT Strands hints and answers that I have listed below should help you out. So, let’s take a look!
What is the Theme for Today’s NYT Strands?
As revealed by the New York Times, the theme for today’s Strands is“Fowl fairy tale”.

Every Strands game has that one Spangram that you need to decipher and today’s was no exception. The hint for today’s Spangram is –“Tale of a duck”.
If you have figured out the Spangram from the above hint, figuring out the theme words will be easy. However, I don’t want to ruin it for you. Instead, here are three theme word hints that may help you:

Anyway, with that being said, let’s go to the next section. However, proceed only if you are ready to check out the theme words.
If you have scrolled this far, you are probably ready to see the answers. So, let’s take a look at today’s theme words in Strands:
Right off the bat, I found JOURNEY in the top left. The top right corner, on the other hand, was home to MISFIT. Turning my attention to the bottom of the puzzle, I found SWAN. Then, on top of it, I found REFLECTION running from edge to edge like a Spangram.
Of course, UGLYDUCKLING was the Spangram and I found it running from right to left in the grids. The remaining grids gave me BEAUTIFUL, and that was the end of today’s Strands. Glad I didn’t have to use a hint for ugly duckling.
