Coming from the Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins, the story of the film will revolve around Jr. Mufasa and Scar. We will get to see what happens to the latter as his love for his brother changes into hate, making him the antagonist in The Lion King.
The upcoming film will see John Kani, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen reprising their roles as Rafiki, Timon, and Pumba respectively. They will be joined by Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Aaron Pierre as Scar and Mufasa’s younger versions. The voice cast also includes Mads Mikkelsen and Thandiwe Newton.
Surprisingly, Blue Ivy Carter will voice Kiara and Beyoncé will reprise her role of Nala.
While some fans are optimistic about the movie, there are several who think that this isn’t a good idea for Disney. That’s because fans feel an emotional connection with the original story from 1994 and they aren’t looking for a retelling of the same story in a different format.
