Minecraft Creaking Mob: Everything You Need to Know

One of the most exciting additions to Minecraft ever comes as the new Creaking mob. It has been announced as part of an upcoming Winter Drop, including the new Pale Garden biome. It not only looks and feels like it’s from somehorror Minecraft mod, but the Creaking also has unique mechanics and features. In this guide, we go over everything you need to know about the Creaking, from where to find it to how to defeat it.

What Is the Creaking in Minecraft?

Creaking is a hostile mob with a model and appearance resembling tree bark. It has three horizontal glowy eyes that help you locate it in the darkness. One of this mob’s most unique features is how it attacks.

If the player isn’t directly looking at the Creaking,this mob will only advance and attackthe player if it isn’t directly looking at it. Otherwise, it stays still and seemingly passive.

Creaking spawns naturally in the newPale Garden biomeonly during the night. However, it’s not because of the biome itself but because of the Creaking Heart block found here.

The Pale Garden biome is a fairly desaturated, ashen-looking oak biome with a dense tree layout. The Creaking blends perfectly with the trees, making it the perfect environment for it.

Unlike other mobs in Minecraft,Creaking has no health points. Despite that, it can deal a decent amount of damage. So, how do you even kill it? Well, we mentioned theCreaking Heartin the previous section, and that’s exactly what you need to look for.

This is anorange blockthat naturally spawns inside the Pale Garden trees. It controls the Creaking and allows it to move and survive. Once you start hitting this mob, you will see it emits particles that lead toward the specific Creaking Heart block controlling it. So, find and break this block to kill the Creaking mob.

To get rid of the Creaking, you need to break the Creaking Hearthidden in the treesin the Pale Garden biome.

You can also spawn the Creaking by placing the Creaking Heart into a tree. However, this is not as straightforward as it sounds. First, you will need asilk touchtool, which you can use to break and collect the Creaking Heart. If broken with a tool without a silk touch, it just vanishes.

An alternative way to get the Creaking Heart is simply by crafting it. This recipe requires 9 Resin Clumps and 2 Pale Oak Logs. When you hit the Creaking, you will notice the trail of particles leading you to a Pale Oak Tree. Here, the resin clumps will be generated, and you can easily collect them by breaking them with your hand.

Finally, open your crafting table, form a Resin Block using the 9 clumps, and place the two Pale Oak Logs one above and one below the Resin block to get the Creaking Heart.

Then, you’ll need to collect some pale wood from the Pale Garden biome. The Creaking Heart blockwill only activate(indicated by the orange color) if it’s in between and aligned with the pale wood blocks. Once it’s activated, you have to destroy the Creaking Heart block and not the wood around it to despawn the Creaking.

This is a fantastic strategy you can apply to protect your base from intruders or perhaps in a mini-game you make for your friends.

The Creaking doesn’t have a drop currently, though the main reward of the experience with this mob is the Creaking Heart block itself. So, ensure you don’t look for the Pale Garden before you have silk touch enchantment on your tools.
