How to Upgrade Skill Gems in Path of Exile 2

The path of Exile 2 is very similar to its predecessor, but there are also stark differences in many base game mechanics. One difference is the method of upgrading Skill gems, or class skills, in the game. Skill gems are the basis of a class’s abilities, and upgrading them is equally important to upgrade your gear in the game. How to Upgrade Skills in Path of Exile 2

Upgrading Skill Gems works differently in Path of Exile 2 compared to the original Path of Exile. The main difference is that theSkill Gems no longer level up with use and earn XP separately.

Instead,players must find Uncut Skill Gemsin the overworld and use them to upgrade (and unlock) Skill Gems. Here is how you can find an uncut Skill gem in Path of Exile 2 and use it to level up your Skill Gems.

Uncut Skill Gems are rare but can be found through various means. One of the easiest ways to earn a Uncut Skill gem is todefeat any boss. This counts for both quest bosses and mini-bosses. All you need to do isopen a map and look for Skull marks. The area near the Skull marks will always hold a boss, and hovering over the Skull mark will also give you information on the boss.

Also, Uncut Skill gemscan randomly drop from chests or as loot from normal enemies. I even found an Uncut Skill gem from a random cache. Other than that, the other way of obtaining Uncut Skill Gems is bycompleting quests. The first few Uncut Skill gems many of you will find in the game is by finishing starter quests.

Uncut Skill Gems have different levels, and the higher-level gems only drop in mid-to-late game areas. The Uncut Skill Gems are also used to unlock skills, so always check whether upgrading your old Skill Gems or getting new ones for your build is beneficial.

Note:The Level you upgrade your Skill Gem to using an Uncut Skill Gem depends on the level of the Uncut Skill Gem you found. A level 2 Uncut Skill Gem can upgrade a level 1 Skill Gem to level 2, and so on.

After you have found an Uncut Skill Gem in Path of Exile 2, open your Inventory and right-click on it. Now, it will take you to the Skill Gem menu for the class. You canselect the Skill Gem you have already unlocked to get the Upgrade option.
