How to Enable Google Assistant Hindi on Your Android Device

After weeks of promotion, Google has finallybrought Hindi language support to Google Assistantin its worldwide push for the service. Essentially, the new update brings Hindi Google Assistant to Android 6.0+ (Marshmallow and above) devices. However, a lot of users are confused as to how to get Google Assistant in Hindi and how to actually converse with Google Assistant in Hindi. Well, if you’re one of those people, fret not, as we show you how to easily enable Google Assistant Hindi on your Android device:

Note: I tried the following method on my Xiaomi Mi A1 running Android Oreo 8.0, and it worked fine.

  1. First off, make sure you’re running thelatest version of the Google appon your device. Followthis link, and tap on“Update”to update your Google app to the latest version.

Note: If the Google update is not available for you, make sure to check out later because Google is still rolling out the new update to everyone.

  1. Next up, head over toSettings -> Language & input -> Language.

  2. Now, tap on“Add a language”. You will now be presented with a list of languages. Scroll down and tap on“Hindi”to select it.

  3. Once you’ve added Hindi as a language, hold down on the 3-bar icon next to it, and drag it upwards, toset it as your device’s default language.

  4. And that’s it. Simplysay “Ok Google”or hold down the home button to activate Google Assistant, andtalk to it in Hindi language.
