Here’s How You Can Watch Redmi Y2 India Launch Live
Jun. 7, 2018Xiaomi is launching yet another selfie-centric smartphone today at a launch event in India, possibly the Redmi Y2. The Redmi Y2 is expected to a rebranded version of Xiaomi Redmi S2, which waslaunched in Chinaearlier last month.
The Chinese giant has been teasing the Redmi Y2’s capabilities on social media, talking of the AI capabilities of its 16MP selfie camera for the past few days. The device is confirmed to be an Amazon exclusive as well.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Y2 launch in India isscheduled to start at 3:00 PM today and will be live streamed on YouTube, but the event link hasn’t gone live as of yet. The company’sofficial websitealready has a placeholder and a dedicated page for the livestream, with a countdown for the event. We’ll update this story with the YouTube link once Xiaomi goes live.
Coming to the specs of this upcoming device, the Redmi Y2 is expected to be a rebranded Redmi S2 – which means it would be a camera beast.
The Redmi Y2 will sport a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) display, with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It ispowered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with 2 RAM and internal storage configurations– 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB.
The highlight of the device will, however, have to be the cameras. The Redmi Y2features a dual 12MP (f/2.2) +5MP camera setup on the rear, coupled with a 16MP front shooterwith front LED flash. The selfie camera is accompanied by an AI-powered Beauty mode, which justifies Xiaomi’s #FindYourSelfie campaign.
According to the rumor mill, the Redmi Y2 will be priced higher than its predecessor. Thebase variant of the device is expected to be priced at Rs 9,999whereas the 4GB + 64GB variant will likely be priced at Rs 11,999. Though we will get an official confirmation in a few hours.
