What Is GPU Turbo?
GPU Turbo is a graphics processing acceleration technology which combines a smartphone’s software and hardware resources to optimize the performance for graphics-intensive tasks like gaming. Although GPU Turbo is a new feature, Huawei claims that it will also benefit previous generation smartphones with older hardware.
The company claims that GPU Turbo improves graphics quality, even if a game does not support HDR visuals. It should also result in a more stable gaming experience as the traditional graphics processing framework is run at a lower layer system. GPU Turbo boosts graphics processing efficiency by up to 60% while reducing the SoC energy consumption by up to 30%, and will also support AR and VR applications in the future.
