Dress to Impress: Lana Lore in DTI Explained

What if I tell you that your favorite Roblox dress-up game is more than makeup and fashion? Apart from styling your model with items you get fromDress to Impress codes, there is more to the game than meets the eye. Yeah, Dress to Impress is a Roblox game that looks like a fashion dress-up game on the surface but there’s something dark lingering underneath, specifically an NPC called Lana aka “Nail Lady”. So, if you are new to the game and want to know more about the story of Lana, then sit back as we explain the Lana lore in Dress to Impress.

Who Is Lana in Dress to Impress?

My name is Lana. But nobody calls me that. And I hate it here. I’m going to run away one day…

In the same diary, she also pins a picture of the DTI Studio and writes that she will set the studio on fire and burn it to the ground. That’s not all. There was also a list of names that Lana marked as if it was some sort of hit list. The list contains not only random player names but alsoincludesnames of the developers who work on the game.

Till this point, it seemed as if Lana was tired of being a boring NPC and wanted revenge on the devs and people who just remember her as Nail Lady. Again, it is not that simple. Just in the next update, the diary was removed from the desk to a place behind her. However, the diary said something a lot different this time.

In this new diary, we notice a couple of important clues. The readable page of the diary now read,“That isn’t me. They replaced me with some doppelganger. That’s not me. I’m Lana, she’s not. But she’s pretending to be me.”

According to the diary entry, Lana was actually held hostage by Gigi, the game’s developer, and a doppelganger was pretending to be her. The words sound as if she wishes the clone wouldn’t hurt her image. The diary further says,

I think she’s the reason why all the players are going missing.

With the same diary replacement update, we seethree missing postersbehind the nail salon chair on a dashboard. These posters are the same developers from Lana’s target list. This begs the question if the missing person is from Lana’s diary then why would the doppelganger be the reason behind the missing people?

To find it out, the diary drops a clue with theRoblox user ID: 5759585595. This user ID leads to a Roblox profile with a YouTube link where we see creepy videos involving Lana. Among a bunch of videos titled — awakening, threerules, and others, the players notice some sort of entity saying Lana is ruining their plans by sharing the truth. It might also seem like this same entity is trying to make her doppelgangers take over the game.

In this game, which is nothing Like Dress to Impress, we learn the backstory of Lana. According to the clues dropped here and there, we learn that Lana was diagnosed with a terminal illness, which led her to start working at the nail salon.

However, at the end of the game is a podium that requires four players to open a maze. Once that is cleared, there is a binary code that translates to“You may have finished her trials, but the evil still lurks throughout. This is not the end. There will be chaos.”

In Lana’s Roblox profile, we also see the group Saudade. The bio of the group reads,“Welcome to the birth of an uprising, a new dawn where we stand united against the forces of evil.”

Within the group, there is a sub-group called Coterie, for a more exclusive bunch of people. Through the Coterie group, we also find the missing people the diary mentions. However, the profiles suggest they are not the developers that Lana mentioned in her hit list previously. This kicked off the lore of Lana, which is full of twists that you would not expect.

After that, we get a shocking revelation when we look into the profile of one of the missing persons. This profile’s bio is a cipher that explains that Coterie is not a group to fight evil, it’s thesacrifices of Lana. Well, this might make you infuriated with Lana unless another game dropped.

Later, Lana drops another game in her profile called the Questionnaire. This live-stream experience explained how the awakening led her to financial blackmail. She also mentions thatshe loves the nail salonand how nothing has happened yet.

The shocking part comes at the end of the experience, where we see the message, “Don’t believe her please…. that’s not the real Lana.” This leads to everyone being kicked out of the server. The reason for being kicked out? An error message that reads,“I am the real Lana.”

Well, unless another update added a new room in the game where we see a new diary. We learn that Lana was after all behind all these sacrifices and kicking out players from the server. The diary says how easy it is to manipulate the players into believing in her.

Lana also executes three members of the Coterie after this revelation in front of everyone. However, a member kills Lana instead bringing an end to her revenge tour. Or, was it?

A couple of days later, Lana’s YouTube channel shared a new video titled‘thelastserenade’. As per this video, the Lana who was killed turned out to be a doppelganger. The video also said there are more to come and she has opened a gate. The same gate that we saw in the forest podium. It needs four sacrifices, which are fulfilled after three already dead members of Coterie and Lana’s doppelganger are dead.

With that, the evil group Saudade adds anewaffiliation named Plague, which plays a big part in Lana’s lore. This new group was created by a profile named Agamemnon. Lana also shares that shewants to free Agamemnonthrough the portal.

After the calling of Agamemnon, Lana released a new game called The Fortress. If we go by all the notes and walls scribbled with text, it seems the read Lana is indeed here but she is brainwashed.

In the same game, we finally get to see Agamemnon in a basement dungeon by opening two doors using the passwords called“bestow me the truth”and“plague”. In the dungeon, we see notes where it is visible that Agamemnon experimented on Lana to create the perfect doppelganger.

Another note here reveals that Lana is just a vessel and Agamemnon will get rid of her once the job is done.

Well, it seems obvious that Lana and Agamemnonare on the same pageto sacrifice the whole Saudade group. However, in another cipher, Lana reveals she is sorry for everything she did. With Agamemnon requiring innocent sacrifices, Lana seems to have a shift in her intentions even after the dark lore. With that, Lana released another game called Sanningens Galleri, which also means Gallery of Truth.

In this experience, we see Lana’s pictures with all the placards in a long gallery. From this, we can finally understand that Lana’s we have seen so far, whether it is the live stream or nail salon, has always been a doppelganger. Lana also shares another message through her Roblox group “Dear Lana” and says, “I haven’t done my job correctly, they say. I must step down.”

In one of the updates, after Lana went missing, she wasreplaced with another Roblox profile named Lina. Lana also shares a long message on the Saudade group regarding her replacement saying,“I believe Lina is a great replacement. The old nail tech (which wasn’t me) was removed to protect you all. It wasn’t our choice. Soon, I’ll claim back what’s mine.”

During the time she was missing, we could see her hidden and kept hostage under her nail salon. Is Lina just a replacement to run Dress to Impress smoothly whileLana is imprisoned in a cage under the salon? Or, is it another ploy for Agamemnon’s arrival? Well, we got to find out all of that from theDTI Halloween update.

But before the update, Lina talked back at Lana for all the false rumors and badmouthing. As per her bio, Lina’s about section says,“Why are you bad-mouthing me?”However, Lana immediately replies to it by saying,“Stop painting me as the villain and trying to brainwash others into believing you. I have always been the good guy. If the shoe fits, wear it.”Just as she does it, we also notice a new dress for Lana. She now wears a blindfold with pigeons on her hair.

However, behind all of the colorful palettes, a darker truth was revealed on Halloween. From theLana lore questin Dress to Impress Halloween update, we lived through Lana’s life. In Chapter 1, we see Lana in her childhood home and how she was stuck around monsters. Once we free her from there, we end up in a hospital. This is where Chapter 2 happens and this also seems like the place where the experiments on Lana happened.

In Chapter 3, someone destroys the salon and drags Lana toward a maze. Once you complete the maze, you will see Lina and the doppelganger who was taking Lana’s place. Here, Lina calls upon Agamemnon to transform into a different entity. Yes, the Lina who was pretending to be nice was actually a culprit planted by the great villain himself. Right beside her, you will find Lana, captive in the same cage as earlier. After you defeat Lina and all of the doppelgangers,you finally free Lana.

However, just as the story is ending, a ghost, revealing himself as Agamemnon, appears to Lana while she sleeps in her bed.“What?! You didn’t think this was the end of our little story did you?… No, no. It’s not over, until I say it’s over.”says Agamemnon, as he continues by saying, “Not even the almighty gods of Olympus can stop what is to come.” Agamemnon being from the tales of Greek mythology is finally confirmed from this as we also find a Greek Tales book in Lana’s room. But before the story ends (kind of), Agamemnon says,“My dear Lana, we shall meet each other soon enough.”
