iOS 18 brings the ability to lock individual apps, a feature that has been present on Android devices for a long while now. As Mark Gurman previously reported, the home screen on iOS 18 will allow you to place app icons anywhere as you like.
The biggest update in the iOS 18 is definitely the Control Center. Apple has redesigned the Control Center and there are multiple swipeable pages of the Control Center with bigger media and home controls. With Control API, third-party app developers will be available to add actions to Control Center.
The Photos app has also received an update in the form of a couple of new features. The app now shows recent “important” photos in a new tab called “Recent Days”. When you swipe right on the Photos app, a new Carousel view opens up that shows a selection of your photos in a cinematic carousel.
In iOS 18, Apple has also added a Game Mode to the delight of gamers. The new game mode will bring better support for game controllers and AirPods, in addition to optimizing the game for higher FPS and better performance.
Other iOS 18 features include text effects and improvements in Apple Maps and the Wallet app.
Lastly, Apple has also introduced RCS support for messaging as it promised earlier. Talking about the Messages app, iOS 18 brings the much-requested ‘Send Later’ feature to schedule messages.
