Well, that’s Alice in Borderland’s plot in a nutshell. It follows Arisu, who gets stuck in an alternative reality of Tokyo that has been abandoned. He has to participate in some deadly games to survive. Arisu makes some friends as well as some enemies during his time in the alternative reality.

When Is Alice in Borderland Season 3 Coming Out?

The day when Alice in Borderland Season 3 was announced, we learned that the main characters, Ryohei Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Yuzuha Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), would reprise their roles. Besides them, no other character was confirmed during the announcement.

While several characters died playing the games, some characters, including Yaba and Banda, remain in the Borderland by choice. Furthermore, characters such as Kuina (Aya Asahina), Chishiya (Nijirō Murakami), Aguni (Sho Aoyagi), Akane (Yuri Tsunematsu), Ann (Ayaka Miyoshi), and Niragi (Dori Sakurada) chose to return to the real world alongside our main protagonists. So, possibilities suggest that we will get to meet these pivotal surviving characters in the anticipated Season 3. However, nothing can be confirmed until any information comes out from the official sources.

Alice in Borderland Season 2 adapted the original manga until the very end, but the Joker Card in the final moment left the room open for a third season. After facing several deadly foes, Arisu will finally come across the Joker.

Alice in Borderland has two spin-offs: Alice on Border Road and Alice in Borderland: Retry. While the Border Road features an entirely different story with a different set of characters, Retry serves as the direct sequel to the original series. So, we can say that the third season may cover the content of Retry manga. The story of the spin-off series takes place several years after the original saga. Every player who managed to survive the death matches has returned to their families without any memories of the Borderland.

Usagi and Arisu also don’t have any memories of what happened to them after the meteorite accident. The viewers already know the duo started developing romantic feelings for each other while they were trapped in their nightmares. However, it seems Retry gives them a chance to reunite, fall in love and get married. The Retry manga showcases Arisu rushing to meet Usagi, his wife, who is expecting a baby. However, Arisu meets with an accident on the way and is again transported to the Borderlands. Regaining his Borderland memories from the past, this time, he has to play the games with some new allies and win the matches against all the odds.

Retry surely has an interesting story, and there’s a chance that the third season will feature the same events. Either that or the creators will center the entire season around the Joker card.
